Raymond H. Beretta, 86, of Richmond, RI passed away on November 12, 2024. He was born in 1938 in Pawtucket, RI. He was a devoted husband for 64 years to his wife Joan and was a loving father to their children, Raymond Jr., William, Amy and Michael. Ray grew up in Pawtucket, attended West Sr. High School and graduated from Providence College and obtained his Masters Degree in Education from Rhode Island College. He was a school teacher in the Pawtucket school system and served on the school board. He was also elected to the Pawtucket City Council in 1973. Later, he joined the family business and managed the Durastone/Flexicore plant in Smithfield, RI for 21 years. After which he returned to his passion, teaching and helping the community. He joined the Potter Burns School in Pawtucket as Principal and enjoyed many happy years until his retirement in 2000. He was a man committed to his family, his faith and his community. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Sons of Italy. He enjoyed golfing and boating and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Later as Alzheimer’s took away his speech, it did nothing to diminish his smile or cheerful nature; we will all miss that smile.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, November 18th at St. Jude Church, 301 Front St., Lincoln at 10:00am. Inurnment will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org, a cause close to Dad’s heart.
We find comfort in knowing Dad’s legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared and the memories we will cherish forever. He will be dearly missed and well-remembered for a life well lived.
